The “Church of Saint Nicholas” in Budești was built in 1643. It is famous for housing the body armour of Pintea the Brave, the famous outlaw and hero of folk ballads. A native of the village of Măgoaja, north of Cluj-Napoca, Pintea the Brave led the Romanian rebellion against the Habsburgs between 1703 and 1711. He was executed in the nearby town of Baia-Mare.
